Best Par None

From April 2008:

The 2008 Chamblee golf teams are driving it farther and farther with every match.
“The girls haven’t lost and the boys are five-and-two,” said head varsity coach Kurt Koeplin. “They all performed better than expected.”
On March 20, the boys won their second match in a row against North Springs, following a victory over Southwest DeKalb.
“The boys are playing better, especially with beating North Springs,” said Koeplin. ”Our top one through six, makes this the best boys team we’ve ever had.”
In the match on March 11, the boys placed second of three, behind rival Dunwoody but beating North Springs.
“We did all right but we’re still rusty,” said senior Patrick Ryan. “We need to be more consistent. I think we’ll beat Dunwoody the second time around.”
Chamblee golf opened their season on February 20 with both teams defeating Cedar Grove, followed by the boys’ loss against Lakeside.
“The Lakeside coach wouldn’t agree to reschedule,” said Ryan. “It was like 30 degrees and the wind was horrible. Nobody played to their fullest potential.”
The Lady Bulldogs’ golf team is a fantastic 8-0 and is not showing any signs of weakness. They blazed through the last three games, sweeping the North Springs on March 20, Southwest DeKalb on the 18th, and Kell on the 13th.
“Those girls have been together for years,” said Koeplin. “We have some new players that have been playing longer and we’re not as inexperienced.”
Also on March 11, the girls beat both North Springs and Dunwoody.
“Our known rival Dunwoody has nothing on our girls golf team,” said senior Jordan Lisvoski.
Despite a competitive schedule, the teams know how to relax and have fun.
“The reason why I love golf is because our teams are so funny,” said Lisvoski. “We goof off but we compete to win.”
With the county tournament approaching at the end of April, both teams are preparing, but the pressure is really on the girls to reclaim the county title.
“We’re getting ready over the next three weeks because this is a big test for them,” said Koeplin. “The girls were county champs two years ago before we were beaten by Lakeside; they can do it again. This is the best overall team we’ve ever had.”
