With holidays like Halloween and traditions like apple picking, fall is many students’ favorite season. The season is typically well-liked for its colder temperatures and traditional foods, but fall is special to Chamblee students for multiple reasons.
“I look forward to ice skating, hot apple cider, and fall hangouts. Beyond that, I love the fall ambience,” said Etta Potthoff (‘25).
Tori Holliday (‘25) shares similar sentiments.
“I look forward to the desserts, movies, and decorations,” she said.
As for fall weather, Emilia Lowe-Pederson (‘24) is among the many Chamblee students who enjoy the new temperature.
“Honestly, I am looking forward to the temperature, and the leaves, the rain, the wind, like being able to wear sweaters is 100% my vibe. I love Halloween, obviously, and horror movies and just the skeletons and everyone’s yards, I love it,” she said.
The chilly air also lets students add extra layers to their style.
“I love fall weather because you can stack your jackets and wear your jeans, which gives it a very comfortable atmosphere,” said Holliday.
While the summer has unpredictable schedules, the start of fall means students get a daily routine due to school, which can be hectic.
“School is a little stressful for me during fall because it’s close to final exam season and because it comes with the SAT/ACT craze,” said Holliday.
Not only does the season indicate the standardized test fever, but college applications for students can become worrisome around this time.
“I feel like school is probably going to get harder because of college apps, honestly, and that kind of stuff. But at least I’ll be happy while doing it,” said Lowe-Pederson.
Some Chamblee students dread the season due to college applications.
“Fall is the period leading up to stressful times because winter is the most hectic for me. Also, I do not like how it will be warmer than last year because of climate change,” said Elisha Escobar (’26).
Lowe-Pederson also has peeves of her own, specifically the “pumpkin spice people.”
“I dread the people who only care about fall because of the pumpkin spice latte. I’m not too fond of that. I do not associate with them,” she said.
Since fall is known for its seasonal activities, Chamblee students have many recommendations on how to get festive this season.
“If you’re into Halloween, fall-like horror movies, Idle Hands is my favorite. Everyone should watch it. Regarding fall shows, I just started watching Gilmore Girls. I think everyone should listen to ‘Girl in Red’ for obvious reasons and then ‘Evermore’ by Taylor Swift,” said Pederson.
Whether or not you enjoy fall, most Chamblee students admit that the season has unique traits.
“I love when it is chilly, and then you’re like sitting outside, and the sun’s beating down on you,” said Potthoff. “You feel warm, but then there’s a good breeze.”
