Art has always been a reflection of society, the highs and lows. Typically in a visual form, Art is the expression of ideas and emotions. Art creates endless opportunities for people to express themselves. Chamblee’s Art Club offers students these same opportunities. The Art Club is year long and meets once every week after school. The club hosts many activities such as creating murals, school events, community service hours, art festivals, and more.
Many students join art club for the benefits it adds to their high school portfolio.
“I joined art club because I get community service hours that I get to use for an art seal on my diploma,” said Jackson Jordan (‘27).
Other students join for a more laid back experience.
“I have a lot of fun in art club, and it’s nice to do after a long day at school,” said Hannes Els (‘27).
Art club gives students more experience outside of class, which helps them carry on with art in their careers.
“I want to be an artist when I grow up and work in the animation industry,” said Jordan.
“I want to be in a profession that deals with art when I grow up,” said Els.
Art can be a skill developed over time with or without taking a class for it.
“I’m more self taught but I have taken a class here,” said Jordan.
“I have taken Drawing/Painting 1 and Drawing/Painting 2,” said Els.
Students express their arts in different mediums that Art Club allows.
“I specialize in graphite and charcoal,” said Els. “I mainly draw with pen, but recently been using pencil and charcoal,” said Jordan.
Meeting new people and getting to do something you love is a bonus to joining Art Club.
“It’s nice to have a community to share your interests with,” said Jordan.
If this is the club for you it’s easy to get involved.
“If someone wants to join the club they should join the Remind,” said Jordan. “The code is ac1213 and we meet in room 1213.”
