If you have been on the internet in the past few months, you have most likely heard about the Roblox game Dress To Impress. With over 2.3 billion visits, it is currently one of the most popular Roblox games. In Dress To Impress, rounds start with a prompt/theme. Players have just over five minutes to create an outfit that follows the theme and looks visually appealing. However, certain people struggle with certain themes, and it can be a waste of time to have to look up inspo pictures for a theme once the round has started and the time is ticking. Even I struggle with certain themes sometimes. So I have gathered, in no order, the five most missed themes to give guidance to any and all Dress To Impress players! Before I start, I do want to give a disclaimer: Themes are always open to interpretation, so for certain themes you can use your creativity and come up with something iconic!
1: Acubi
Many people don’t know Acubi by name but you may be more familiar with the style than you think. Acubi is popular in East Asia, and is sort of similar to street wear. It has a minimalistic color scheme, with shades of white, cream, black, and brown being prominent. When looking up Acubi styles, you see a lot of cutouts in pieces. A big key to Acubi is the accessories. For a DTI outfit, I recommend using things like headphones, baseball caps, phones, or anything to add detail to your outfits.
2: Scene
Whenever the theme is scene, some of the looks I have to see are a crime to Scene Queens everywhere. Any good scene outfit needs the iconic scene hair. An intense side part with thick bangs, funky hair colors, and cool dye patterns. There are a great pair of bangs in-game that have two streaks of color, and I highly recommend them for a scene outfit. I also love using the ‘spikey’ pigtail, that also allows you to add some color. For the clothing, I would recommend either ripped skinny jeans, or a skirt with patterned leggings underneath. For the rest of the outfit, I highly suggest layering, as it can create more interactive outfits, that give the same effect of sense outfits. Scene was also known for heavy eye makeup, so try to find bold makeup! Good luck styling
3: Tudor Period
For this theme, you have to look back in history. The Tudor period was 1485 to 1603. Think about historical figures like Henry the VIII and his six wives. For your outfits, you could dress like royalty with big skirts, corset tops, and big hair-dos. If you wanted to take a creative approach, I have wanted to see players dress up as characters from SIX the Musical, because they were technically alive during the Tudor period. For the queens I would look up inspo pictures on pinterest because there are six of them, and I can’t describe them all.
4: Y2K
Y2k, or Year 2000, refers to the fashion prevalent during this time. Unfortunately, many players are just getting it wrong. Key details to good y2k outfits include low rise jeans, tight fitting tops, and animal prints. When recoloring items, scroll to the bottom of the patterns tap to find the animal prints. I recommend picking out your prints first, so you can match the rest of the piece’s colors with your print. If you have VIP I would get the chunky belt, even if it is overused, because it will add depth and layers to your outfits. Do not be scared of patterns and layering for any theme, but especially for y2k, it can add that extra touch to your outfit.
5: Steampunk
A common occurrence in DTI is players declaring a new theme or ‘free theme’ when they get a theme they don’t understand. Steampunk is one of the most common themes that get ‘scratched’, but it can be quite a fun theme if you know how to execute it. To me, steampunk outfits serve engineering baddie. Most outfits involve a corset tops over white button downs, which might be replicated with one of the corsets in the same paired with flowy sleeves. Top hats, poofy skirts, and chunky boots are all common in steampunk outfits. The color scheme is mainly different shades of browns. The Madhatter from Alice In Wonderland is a bit of an eccentric example of steampunk, but it could be a fun look to attempt if the theme was steampunk. I also recommend using the goggles for the steampunk effect.
I hope these explanations were helpful to anyone confused. Remember, the most important thing is creativity, so if you want to do something original, go for it! I hope everyone reading wins their next round of DTI!
