This year held the record for the most number of concerts I’ve been to—four.
Heart
The first concert I attended of the year was Heart at State Farm Arena, with Cheap Trick as the opening band. Heart is a classic rock band, who became popular in the 70’s. Their most popular members are the two sisters, Ann and Nancy Wilson. I like their work on their earlier albums, like Dreamboat Annie and Little Queen. Some of the songs I like on these albums are “Crazy On You,” “Little Queen,” and “Barracuda,” which was one of my top played songs of the year, so it was amazing to see it played in concert. The concert was exciting, but I did not enjoy it as much as the other concerts I saw later in the year.
Steve Miller Band, Journey, and Def Leppard
The second concert I saw this year was the Summer Stadium Tour, which featured Def Leppard, Journey, and Steve Miller Band, who played at Truist Park. Steve Miller Band is a classic rock band, with many songs from the 70’s, including hits like “The Joker” and “Fly Like an Eagle.” The next band that played was Journey, who were popular in the 80’s. Their most popular songs are “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” and, of course, “Don’t Stop Believing.” I enjoyed seeing these iconic songs in concert. However, only a few members of the original band remained. The last band of the night was Def Leppard, who were also big in the 80’s. They have songs like “Pour Some Sugar On Me,” “Hysteria,” and “Animal.” This concert was long because three bands played, which may be a reason why I enjoyed it so much. The concert took place at an outside venue, which was nice.
Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper
The third concert I attended this year was Rob Zombie’s and Alice Cooper’s Freaks on Parade Tour, with special guests Filter and Ministry. Rob Zombie is known for his songs “Dragula” and “Living Dead Girl.” Meanwhile, Alice Cooper is known for “School’s Out” and “Feed My Frankenstein.” This was the most fun I’ve had at a concert so far, which may be because I was with my friends. It was at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre. I loved this venue because of how open it felt, but still seemed small and not overwhelming. I originally sat at the front of the lawn with my friends, but moved to the seats to see Rob Zombie. This concert brought some of the most interesting people out, with some dressed up in Alice Cooper costumes and others dressed as zombies for Rob Zombie. The concert also featured a lot of practical effects. This included large mechanical monsters onto stage and Alice Cooper even getting his head guillotined off.
Cyndi Lauper
The last concert I saw this year was Cyndi Lauper’s Farewell Tour, which is supposed to be her very last tour. Cyndi Lauper also played at State Farm Arena with Aly & AJ as the opening band. Cyndi Lauper is a pop musician of the 80’s. Her iconic songs are “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and “The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough,” from the movie The Goonies. Her concert was amazing. She had such a fun personality and told jokes. With her many costume changes and stories, her stage presence was great.
