With winter break approaching, many students are beginning to make wishlists for what they are asking for this holiday season. But what if Chamblee High School had a holiday wish list? What do students wish CHS could get this year?
Seth Weiss (‘28) hit the question right on the head: “Money,” said Weiss.
Many students, like Rihana Samuel (‘28), wished for “less homework”.
Sophia Hamilton (‘27) said, “No finals, and we should have a bring your pet to school day.”
Other students, including Isabelle Wadsworth (‘28), wished for better cafeteria food. Brianna Wood (‘25) said the school cafeteria needs a mini Chick-fil-A restaurant.
Camille Crabtree (‘28), Emely Juarez (‘27), and Michelle Iniestra (‘27) hoped for better food in the vending machines, including non-diet sodas. On the topic of food, Emma Horton (‘26) said CHS should have Crumbl Cookie Mondays.
“A Christmas party on the last day before break!” said Kyla Osborne (‘25).
Lauren Madison (‘27) suggested a trampoline and a moving sidewalk for the hallway.
Nicholas Jovanovic (‘27) said, “A slide from the 4th floor to the trailers and more greenery [in and outside the school].”
“A chocolate milk water fountain and better metal detectors [so we don’t have to take things out of our bags in the mornings],” said Carolyn Skibitski (‘27).
Aubri Stephenson (‘27) and Leah Yared (‘26) both said the school bathrooms need real mirrors, ones to replace the current fun house mirrors that warp your reflection.
On the topic of the school bathrooms, Frida Nieves (‘25) said the bathrooms here need nice, 3 ply toilet paper.
Trinity Robins (‘26) wished for “personal horses to ride to class” at CHS.
Daniel Berry (‘26) said we should have recess just like we did in elementary school.
Mary Lynne Traynelis (‘26) said “classrooms that are actually a good temperature.”
Layne Huey (‘27) said we need “more stairwells.”
Mariann Kersh (‘26) said CHS needs double doors in the fine arts building stairwells.
Nicholas Cox (‘26) said we need more fun events, like parties.
Miranda Greco (‘26) said she wishes AP Research would go away altogether.
Some may call these ideas “unrealistic” or “silly,” but just imagine riding out of math class on your personal pony, sliding down to Herr Anderson’s trailer for German class, or getting Chic-Fil-A for lunch without leaving campus. The holidays are a time for wishing and dreaming, and students are hopeful and excited about what the new year could bring to CHS.

The wish for new mirrors and more stairwells is something I really agree with. I feel that in my soul.
