A fresh slam named Kelly

From November 2007:
With the success of the Chamblee Lady Bulldog volleyball team making it into the Elite Eight, a freshman named Cheyenne Kelly has found the spotlight.
“Being a freshman on the team is hard,” said Kelly, “but I’m working my way up there.”
Due to another activity, Kelly wasn’t able to start the varsity season until it was two weeks in progress. At the time she was the only freshman on the team and this resulted in her struggling with bonding and making friends with the other girls. Once the ice was broken though she and fellow teammates became good friends.
“The girls and I have gotten really close,” said Kelly. “It was awkward at first but we’re really good friends now.”
Kelly comes from a very athletic family: her mother played volleyball at the University of North Carolina; her father played football at Florida State University.
Kelly’s physical health is something she works on a daily basis. She goes to the gym and does 300 sit-ups and runs a mile – and that is after volleyball practice.
“I think I’ve gotten more play time than the varsity players who are already there,” said Kelly.
Even with all the working out and volleyball practice, Kelly still makes time to have a social life as a normal teenager. Kelly enjoys hanging out with her friends, reading, writing, checking out the latest movies, and, most of all, shopping. Kelly also has a good heart and finds time to spend moments with her loved ones. Her aspiration in life is to help those that need counseling with their problems and hopes to become a marriage counselor.
“When I’m on the court, nothing matters anymore,” said Kelly. “Friends, drama, they all just disappear and I just want to win the game.”
