Update: CCHS administration sent an email to parents at 11:36 a.m. announcing that the lockdown was because of “an unannounced random drug search,” that such searches are “part of the school district’s normal protocol,” and that no drugs were found during the search.
Chamblee Charter High School was on level-three lockdown from 9:57 a.m. to 10:05 a.m. this morning, followed by a level-two lockdown from 10:05 a.m. to 10:33 a.m. this morning. Students stayed in their second period class throughout the lockdowns, the cause of which is still being investigated.
We at the Blue & Gold were told by Chamblee police at 11:12 a.m. that as far as the police knows, the lockdown was merely a drill. However, confirmed sightings of K9 units and multiple searches of classrooms have led many to believe that there may be more to the story.
