Assistant No Longer: Gail Barnes Becomes CCHS Principal
March 20, 2019
Following a year of administrative changes and turnarounds, Assistant Principal Gail Barnes is now slated to become the next principal of Chamblee Charter High School.
The announcement came at an afternoon faculty meeting on March 20. Regional Superintendent Sherry Johnson presented the news to a library filled with Chamblee’s faculty and staff, including interim and assistant principals alike.
The room erupted into cheers following the announcement. As for Barnes, she seemed eager about the road ahead.
“I’m ready to get to work,” Barnes said. “I look forward to seeing where we can take Chamblee.”
The attitude in the room seemed exuberant, as yells of joy and applause followed the news of Barnes’ new position. One faculty member was even heard singing as he exited the meeting.
No timeline was given as to when Barnes will assume her new role as principal, or when current interim principals Terese Allen and Robert Williams will transition out.
This story is ongoing and will be updated accordingly.

I’m so glad that she’s the new head principle of Chamblee charter high school. I’ve been saying this for the past three years that I’ve been attending the school that she should have been running the school.
