Senior Noa Benveniste Explores Europe

by Erin Woo

The German exchange program has long been a CCHS tradition.

Last summer, however, senior Noa Benveniste’s European adventures were not limited to Nuremberg, the site of the exchange. She also spent two weeks touring Germany with her parents and the next two at Camp Szarvas, a Jewish summer camp located in Hungary.

In Nuremberg, the day-long canoe trip proved to be Benveniste’s most memorable experience of the exchange program.

“I was in a canoe with Sydney [Hicks, a fellow Chamblee senior] and her exchange partner,” she said. “Our canoe tipped over, and we all went for an unexpected, unplanned swim.”

Overall, though, her favorite part of the summer was the two weeks spent at Camp Szarvas.

“It was one of the best experiences of my life,” said Benveniste. “I got to know so many people from eastern Europe whom I never would have met.”
