Christmas is a long-awaited holiday for so many people; some for the gifts, others for the food, and for those like me the good news.

Christmas for believers is a time to rejoice because through this holiday many are able to spread the good news, which is the birth of Christ. Although no one knows the exact date of his birth, December 25 is the date on which Christians have celebrated it.

During these festive days, there are many things that make it memorable for families: putting up the Christmas tree, preparing the Christmas meal, and spending time with family and friends. One thing that is important to Christian believers is setting up what is called the nativity scene which usually contains Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the wise men, shepherds, and barn animals. It contains the important figures in the birth of Christ, the wise men come later though. The birth of Christ is much more than what meets the eye.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:23)(NLT).

This verse explains the gift that can be received by anyone who is willing to believe. Sin is defined by Merriam-Webster as, “transgression of the law of God.” For example, lying or murdering. I believe that sin is what keeps us humans separated from God because we are not holy and God is, and that death is the outcome of our sins, not literal death because everyone eventually dies, but spiritual death to be separated from God forever. But as the verse explains there is a gift that God is willing to extend that’s free and that is eternal life with God that is through Jesus Christ.

It is as simple as it sounds. I’m not here to force anyone into accepting my beliefs but to just listen to the offer that has been given.
