Bringing Business Experience, Computer Science Teacher Nadira Hasnain Lends New Perspective to Students

Nadira Hasnain offers a lot to the Chamblee student body, not just as a computer science and business teacher, but as a student advisor as well. She wants her students to succeed in college and explore ways to utilize their talents in order to realize their full potential.

“Others should know I’m not just a teacher,” said Hasnain. “I have a lot to give to my students. I can focus a high school student’s future to what to expect in college and [to] have a successful career.”

Her ability to do so comes in part from her vast experience in the education field. This academic year marks her twenty-seventh year as a teacher and various other administrative positions. She has worked in several places in the Southeast, including the Atlanta Public Schools, Morris Brown College, Clark Atlanta University, Tennessee Board of Regents, and the Dekalb County School System.

However, her ability to advise her students also comes from the various experiences she has accumulated during her career as a business woman and entrepreneur, something she started early in her career as a teacher.

“I started my own business, a wholesale business in the clothing market, a franchise business in the food industry, and an educational business that is still continuing with international universities and colleges.”

This only represents a single facet of Hasnain’s personality. She has several hobbies running from the fine arts area to the athletics area, which further contribute to her personality.

“I love to design, garden, cook, play basketball, and play tennis,” says Hasnain.

Where does the motivation to achieve all this come from? Hasnain attributes it to her mother, who has been a major factor in shaping her.

Hasnain says, “she helped me reach out to the goal and limitless dreams.”

So what final advice does she have for her current and future students?

“The sky is limitless. They need to [be] organized and focused,” she says.
