Mr. Renaldo, the administration assistant for the last three and a half years, left on the Friday before Thanksgiving break.
Several teachers recognized his contributions to Chamblee High School and the vital role he played in keeping the school running every day.
“Mr. Renaldo knows how to get things done,” said Coach Bob Swank. “Anything you need in this building, he knows how to make it happen, so he’s a very, very effective person.”
Others highlighted his adaptability and wide range of responsibilities.
“I consider him the Swiss Army knife of the school. He did everything, and he knew how to back up every position, so he will truly be missed,” said Mr. Adrian Hylton, a campus security guard.
Teachers believed that Mr. Renaldo kept the school running with his wide range of responsibilities and his quick response to requests.
“Mr. Renaldo is like glue. He helped keep stuff together. I’m always amazed by how he did what he did. When you asked him to do something, he did it with speed, which is awesome,” said Colonel Dunklin.
Some recalled how they met Mr. Renaldo within the first week they started working at Chamblee.
“When I started here, he was probably the second or third person I talked to here at Chamblee,” said Mr. William Huggins, who has been working at Chamblee for the last three years. “My first impression of Mr. Renaldo was intimidating, somebody who seemed to know where everything was and how everything ran.”
Huggins believed Renaldo’s biggest contribution was in communicating with teachers, notifying them when there were emergency drills and other important events.
“There was communication when I got here, but I think the clarity and directness of the communication has gotten a lot better, and that’s really from Mr. Renaldo’s efforts and work,” said Huggins.
Others thought Mr. Renaldo made the school more supportive and less rigid.
“Everyone knew as long as Mr. Renaldo was here, it was cool,” said Hylton. “He stayed on top of your needs… and of course, he cared about all the students.”
Teachers also believed Renaldo was very passionate about the school and wanted to do all he could for its students.
“He [went] above and beyond for Chamblee High School students, so he has a real love for Chamblee High School,” said Coach Don Jackson. “Whatever needed to be done, he did it, and every time I saw him, he did it with a smile on his face.”
Specifically, he helped coaches do their best for their teams.
“As a coach, I’m always needing room reservations around the building, and whenever I needed something, I contacted him, and he found a way to get it done,” said Swank.
Teachers agreed they’ll need to step up to fill all of Mr. Renaldo’s roles now that he has left.
“[The school] will change tremendously,” said Jackson. “He wore a lot of hats at Chamblee, so… everybody’s going to have to step up and help out because he did so many things.”
Mr. Renaldo was an integral part of the Chamblee administration, and all the aforementioned teachers wished Mr. Renaldo well with his future career.
“You can’t replace somebody like Mr. Renaldo,” said Jackson. “We wish him the best. He’s moving on to other endeavors, so we’re happy for him, but he will definitely be truly missed.”
