SCREAMING
Everyone knows the feeling of being so overwhelmed with emotions that you just need to scream. A quick, powerful yell can serve as a positive way to release those emotions. My most tried-and-true method is playing music and screaming into a pillow with another pillow over my head. Recently, I have discovered screaming while driving. Cars are definitely not soundproof, but if you’re going fast enough, I don’t think other drivers will be able to hear you. I like using this method on busy roads like Peachtree Boulevard or the highway. I should also note that I never drive if I am feeling too emotional or upset, and I always make sure to pay attention to the road as I scream. – Noa Zilber
MAC AND CHEESE
Recently, I stopped eating mac and cheese. Not on purpose, but I just gravitated away from it. Last weekend though, I got back into mac and cheese. While I prefer the baked part at the top, the gooey insides are still amazing. Each bite is cheesy goodness, filled with childhood memories and nostalgia, even as a high schooler it still tastes good. Almost everyone has surely had mac and cheese at least once in their life, since it’s a staple at both kid’s birthday parties and barbecues, but I still can’t believe it was over six months since the last time I ate it. – Eli Lineberry
FLEETWOOD MAC
I have always been a Fleetwood Mac fan. I mean, who isn’t? But recently, I’ve been listening to their music more and more, specifically “Throw Down” and “Silver Springs.” “Silver Springs” has always been considered a masterpiece amongst the band’s discography, with Stevie Nicks’ passionate vocals and lyrics. However, “Throw Down” is a lesser known song off of a lesser known album, Say You Will, which was released far after Fleetwood Mac’s expiration date. The song doesn’t really have the zing that their past songs did, but I somehow relate to the lyrics and the song is catchy and constantly stuck in my head. Along with this, I came up with the revelatory decision to dress up as Stevie Nicks for Halloween (as I am on the “Edge of Seventeen”), which I am very excited about. – Sela Sokol
SAILOR MOON MANGA
I’ve been meaning to watch Sailor Moon for a long time because I kept hearing good things about it, and I finally chose to do it. I’ve watched seven-ish episodes, and I think it’s good? Not entirely sure yet, since not much of the actual plot has progressed. I read the first manga edition right before I started watching it, and the manga version was so much faster paced, and I think it’s better because of that. I’ve watched seven episodes of the main character crying over something or other (she’s a 14-year-old girl, so I can’t really blame her) with the same kind of plot. I guess that should be expected since it is a magical girl show, and that’s how they all work, but it gets to a point where each episode is super predictable. The manga does have some of these factors, but for the most part, it does change things up a bit every few chapters by introducing new key main characters pretty quickly, and their interactions with the main character really make it better. I can’t wait for the next few editions to be available in the library – Humna Ahmad
BOW TIE PASTA
I believe pasta is its own food group. I eat pasta at least twice a week. If I’m hungry for a snack, I’ll make pasta. If I’m packing my lunch, I’ll make pasta. If I’m making dinner, I’ll make pasta. The best part is that I can make extra pasta and then reheat it whenever I want. My only problem is that there are so many types of pasta: orecchiette, penne, orzo, bucatini, tagliatelle, and then the best, bowtie. Bowtie pasta is perfect: the shape, the thickness, the way it holds sauce. I always have two boxes in the pantry. One box can get me through three or four meals, which I usually use for my school lunches. Bowtie pasta is also really easy to tell when it’s ready to eat. The pasta will turn a lighter white/yellow in comparison to its original color of a hard yellow. Overall, bowtie pasta is the best pasta without competition. – Bella Avett
CANDY CORN
Candy corn is a very controversial candy. There is no in between. People either love it or hate it. While it is a very sweet candy, I think it is really good and is very nostalgic. I also recently discovered that the brand of candy corn really matters. I bought Walmart brand candy corn because it was cheaper and the texture was off and it didn’t taste good. I then went back and bought the Brach’s one and it was so much better. It isn’t quite as sugary but is still very sweet and the texture is so much better. It is almost smooth in a way whereas the Walmart brand is crumbly. Overall make sure to spend that extra $3 and get the good brand of candy corn so that you really enjoy it. – Mallory Williams
MITOSIS MIKES
Imagine if I could go through mitosis. With how much I need to get done at this time of the year, being able to make like a million little mitosis mikes (nice ring to it, right?) to do my bidding would be THE solution. I mean, think about it: Need your college essays done? Mike #425 already did it. Need your stupid dog walked? Mike #17’s on it. Need your article pictures taken? Mike #32, #141, and #67 already got them. All the dull parts of life will be done before you even think about them. With all my busy work done, I could finally focus on the real things in life, like watching One Piece again with zero consequences and pursuing my professional VGC doubles career. All in all, we need to develop this technology IMMEDIATELY for me and only me. – Michael Bryant
HAMILTON
I’m not really much of a Broadway show watcher, but Hamilton is my favorite Broadway show, and it cultivated my desire to watch more. I’ve seen the show twice, once in Chicago and once in New York, and both times they have been amazing. Now, it’s premiering in theaters, and I am dying to see it. Although most people love Hamilton for its catchy songs, it’s actually an awe-inspiring account of the birth of the United States, and of course, Alexander Hamilton. I know this because I took AP United States History last year, and the number of times I have remembered one of the song lyrics from the soundtrack to help me with a test has been too many. “1776, New York City,…” is constantly running through my mind, and has helped me with various history tests. Speaking of the music, I listen to the soundtrack continually. The original cast with Leslie Odom Jr. and Phillipa Soo will never compare to the casts I saw in Chicago and New York. I love Hamilton and believe that it has truly revitalized Broadway. – Sydney Moss
DANCING WITH THE STARS SEASON 34 CAST
The cast of “Dancing with the Stars” Season 34 includes celebrities from all sides of the internet, including two stars from the “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” a hit TV show that follows Mormon wives and their social media presence. Others, like Danielle Fisher, are stars from older TV shows like “Boy Meets World.” My predictions as to who will win would have to be Robert Irwin and Witney Carson because of their athleticism compared to the rest of the cast. Robert is an Australian wildlife photographer; his father, Steve Irwin, was on a famous wildlife television program. Robert is younger and more invested in the dancing process than many of his peers; to put in simpler terms, he has more willingness to learn from the experience. – Rachel Belknap
