Lucy Adelman, better known by her stage name Lucy Bright, is a 2020 graduate of Chamblee High School and a rising singer-songwriter. A recent graduate of Emory University, Bright earned a degree in Vocal Performance before deciding to pursue her dream career of songwriting. Her debut album, Which Way Up, was released in September 2025.
“Which Way Up… is inspired by feeling a little lost [and] knowing the direction I see for myself, but being too scared to admit I know how to get there,” wrote Bright.
Bright got her start in performance and singing at a very young age.
“I’ve been performing for as long as I can remember, but I started writing songs when I was eight,” wrote Bright. “I always knew I wanted to pursue music, everything really clicked freshman year in Ms. Kaspar’s class, when she assigned us to write out where we saw ourselves in five years. I knew I had to pursue music. I studied Vocal Performance at Emory, where I formed a band, sang a cappella, and so much more. I interned as an artist manager and an audio engineer, but finally jumped into the recording studio for my own music in 2023.”
Bright had a close connection with her teachers at Chamblee, many of whom influenced her greatly.
“Ms. Andriano and Ms. Tinnell were incredible at teaching and helping me navigate being a highschooler, Ms. Clark and Ms. Kasper were my SGA queens, and Coach Reynolds was the best swim coach. Mr. Kuuti, Mrs. Marin-Mendoza, and Ms. Lirette taught me so much through music. All of my teachers were so kind, knowledgeable, and knew how to push their students to be the best they can be. I’m so grateful,” wrote Bright.
Teachers who knew Bright noted how positive her presence was at school.
“[Lucy Bright was] wonderfully amazing. [She was] like this bright light. She had a great sense of humor and was always nice to be around,” said Ms. Andriano. “She’s super smart [and] creative. She was always on top of stuff, and an all around great student, both academically and creatively.”
Bright drew inspiration from many artists she listened to at a young age, and it set the stage for her music to come.
“I’m inspired by a mix of pop, soul, and R&B music. I love fun, dancing energy, but paired with big vocals,” wrote Bright. “I’m super inspired by Stevie Wonder, Ariana Grande, and Bruno Mars.”
Bright’s newest album came with much introspective thought and dove into her dream of becoming a music artist. She self-reflected those same dreams in the album and decided to pursue her musical career full-time once it dropped.
“I love [Which Way Up] because the answer is literally in the question. Which way?… UP,” wrote Bright. “I like the nonchalant feeling of glossing over the answer because it calls back to the fear of taking accountability for my life and making my dreams come true.”
Bright has come a long way from her time at Chamblee, and has made her dreams reality.
“I already know the way,” wrote Bright. “All I have to do is take the first steps.”
