I hate the cold. This often poses an obstacle for me when picking my outfit during the fall and winter. Most cold mornings I tend to disregard the nice outfit I had picked out the night before and resort to my go-to comfort fit. Specifically during school, the thought of being cold or uncomfortable terrifies me; to combat this fear I try to wear something I know isn’t ugly, keeps me warm enough, and is comfy throughout hours in the crusty school air. This always consists of sweatpants, a hoodie, a tank top, and sneakers.
I am in the process of building up my sweatpants collection, but my current favorite sweatpants are the wide leg sweatpants from Garage. I find that darker colors are typically better because they match everything and don’t stick out. These sweatpants aren’t too heavy or too lightweight, so they work regardless of the temperature.
To go on top, I like to wear a tank top. This can really be any tank top, but I usually wear an athletic tank top or a basic cotton one. These can also be found anywhere. I like Goodwill for this because of the variety and $4 cost. I also love the Aerie athletic tank tops because the material is super soft and they also don’t carry a heavy price tag. Tank tops are the perfect shirt for this outfit personally because I know there won’t be any sweat stains on the off-chance that I do get hot, and the sleeves, or lack thereof, make it much more comfortable to go under a sweatshirt.
In addition, I always bring a hoodie or a crewneck. These can also be acquired almost anywhere. My favorites are from places I go on vacation because it’s more personalized and detracts from the plainness of the rest of the outfit. I also love men’s quarterzip sweatshirts from Goodwill. These max out at about $7, and they are usually the most comfortable.
For shoes, I go between Adidas Campus, New Balance, and Ugg Tasman’s. The Ugg Tasmans are virtually just slippers that stay on your feet, but sometimes they can be harder to walk in (likely because I have the platform ones). New Balances are some of the most comfortable tennis shoes ever, and they match with everything. My usual shoe of choice is my Adidas Campus. I bought them last spring in a floral print; they are so cute and they usually bring a little bit more light to this outfit.
My favorite part of this outfit is that I would likely be able to find every piece at Goodwill for a total of $20. It’s super simple. It’s comfy, and it’s versatile. I will pretty much only wear this at school because I usually only feel this dread of discomfort at 7:00 a.m. knowing I have to be at school soon. Regardless, it is a great fool-proof method to happiness in your outfit.
